Make It Fly, Girl, Make it Fly
The girl in this picture? She is Sophie hear her roar! She is one of my precious nieces. She is amazing. She is an unexpected blessing beyond expectation. She has Down's Syndrome.
In that order. (kind of)
The Down's Syndrome is definitely the last thing on the list of what makes her who she is. She is indeed as fearfully and wonderfully made as any one of us. Don't let the political rhetoric fool you she was knitted together with knots as tight as the rest and her value is incalculable to the heart of God.
I will keep my words short and sweet- kind of like Sophie- and say that this girl has made me look deep inside at what I see as difference. Deeper than I thought I needed too. Her family is on a journey that is God-sized. One that I think is going to radically affect the lives of other special needs families.
I'm blessed to be her aunt and if you've met this tiny lass in the past year then you have inevitably been splashed with a blessing. It is just unavoidable when you see her sweet face.
I just wanted to take a moment to say a Happy Birthday (a couple days late) to one amazing little girly. She (along with the rest of us!) celebrated her 1st birthday on Sunday. She is rocking this thing called life and we're all so happy to be rockin' it right along with her.
Leave her and her family some love in the comments. I know it would encourage and inspire them.
